A further fellowship studying all aspects of skin cancer. This includes Mohs’ surgery which can also be added to Richards repertoire of expert surgical interventions.
As a result, Mr Clark can be found on the GMC Specialist Register as a Plastic Surgeon.
Richard attended Glasgow University and graduated in 1998. Following the necessary basic surgical training he then began his career in plastic surgery. Most of this being undertaken at Canniesburn NHS Hospital in Glasgow. Canniesburn Hospital, prior to it’s move to Glasgow Royal, was the hub of the West of Scotland Regional service and all major plastic surgery was centralised there. A training place like no other.
By 2004, Richard began a research degree in skin cancer. This led to the MD Research Degree Award. Further supported by the publication of several scientific papers.
In 2007. Richard was appointed to the Pan-Scotland Plastic Surgery training scheme. As an active member he spent time in Dundee, Belgium, Detroit, and Norwich developing specialist skills in breast surgery, cosmetic surgery, and skin cancer surgery.
His continual rise to success found him awarded the highly sought-after Training Interface group fellowships in 2013.
In 2014, Richard undertook the position of Consultant Plastic Surgeon within NHS Forth Valley. He is responsible for skin cancer surgery. A service for which he was instrumental in developing and setting up. He is one of very few surgeons whose skills extend to Mohs’ surgery.
